Empathize & Define

The Environmental Justice (EJ) Fellowship, run by the Tishman Environment and Design Center at The New School, is a two‑year program that equips movement leaders with design tools, coaching, and funding to create disruptive climate solutions. In July 2020 the fellowship commissioned a visual system that would explain the application process, illustrate the program’s design arc, and promote the experience on social media.

Ideate

Intent on developing a system for their application launch in less than 4 weeks, we collaborated and iterated on a set of visuals based on the core values of the fellowship.

& Learn

The visual language that we developed was applied across EJ Fellowship communications (web, social, e-mail), and has served as a kit of parts which the program has built upon in subsequent years.
